The hummus I made is a bell pepper hummus and it tastes really beany, sweet, and it has a tiny, tiny little spice. If you haven't tried it before, it may be a little dry. My family and I like it and Penelope likes it too! (If you've been reading my blog, you know who Penelope is!)
Here's the recipe:
1 red bell pepper
2 cans of garbanzo beans (15 oz cans)
3 tablespoons of lemon juice
1 tablespoon of tahini paste
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 cloves garlic
1. Seed and cut up the red bell pepper in 4 to 6 pieces.
2. Place the bell pepper with the skin side up on a broiler pan.
3. Stick the pan in the broiler and leave it in until it's charred.
4. Put the bell peppers in a Ziploc bag and leave it in there for 20 minutes. The steam will help remove the skin.
5. Remove the skin from the bell pepper.
6. Rinse the garbanzo beans.
7. Add the bell peppers, the garbanzo beans, and all of the ingredients into the blender.
8. Blend until smooth.
Voila!
